Spring Break 2026: Black Mountain/Asheville

We’re in Black Mountain, NC for spring break. Today we hiked Catawba falls and strolled around downtown Black Mountain.

We’re in Black Mountain just outside of Asheville with our friends, the DeWitts, for spring break. We drove up yesterday, made and ate dinner, and had a chill night at the rental house last night.

Today we hiked Catawba Falls. We went up the River trail and came down the Ridge trail. It’s a nice loop, and the falls are long and impressive. There are a lot of steps to get up to the falls on the River trail, but there are lots of viewing spots to stop, rest, and enjoy the views.

Afterwards, we got adventure treats at The Hop ice cream and then strolled through the shops in downtown Black Mountain. It’s a wonderfully cute mountain town.
